Wide Open, a Bloomington, Indiana based jazz quintet, is dedicated to pursuing the shared life-long artistic goal of each of its members, to meld all of the great jazz traditions together to form their own unique brand of contemporary music.

Wide Openâs front line is composed of trumpeter Pat Harbison, Associate Professor of Jazz Studies at Indiana University and teaching veteran of the famed Jamey Aebersold Summer Jazz Workshops, and saxophonist Dennis Riggins, a player with roots in a wide array of styles, who is a regular contributor of original music to the bandâs repertoire. The rhythm section consists of Dan Deckard, an in-demand drummer for many years on both the Chicago connected scene of Champaign, Illinois, and also Bloomington-a crossroads of cutting edge music, Joel Kelsey on bass, currently making waves on the Indianapolis scene, and Julian Bransby, a celebrated young pianist who has been acclaimed as being destined for great things to come.

Members of Wide Open have performed and recorded with a virtual whoâs who of jazz, taking all of those diverse influences, expanding upon them, and now sharing them with fans of pure, uncompromised artistry.
