7 MP3 Songs
HIP HOP/RAP: Southern Style, BLUES: Rhythm & Blues
Details:
Born and raised in Riverside,(South Memphis);Willie Firecracker is no stranger to the local Hip Hop culture. Under the name "W"-Def he began performing in clubs, talent shows and Black History prgrams. In tha late 80's early 90's he would enter in a radio contest for Memphis Cable Vision where he won $1000 recording time, and his song would gain a 60 second radio spot and a 30 second TV spot. Off the heels of the success from the victory, his record "Buck Jump" received a lot of local airplay and opened the doors for a lot of local rappers("They should be thankful").As time progressed, his style would become more grittier and soulful and as a result, "Willie Firecracker" was born. Dubbed "Grown Folk Hip Hop",his music contains mature adult subject matters about everyday struggles, and strong solutions. Not only does he rap with authority, he croons his hooks in one of the most bluesy voices ever heard. In a clone era where everyone dresses, talk and sound alike, this veteran rhyme slinger easily stands out. With songs like "Stepping Stones","Pimp tha System"'and the hood favorite "Maintainin", Tha Suckka Repellent(EP) will send a lot of artists back to the drawing board. Co-owner of Collection Plate Records with his partner Orlando Farmer,"Wille Firecracker" will popoffa firework show that all ages will definitely be impressed with. The Fourth of July will never be the same.
