"Matt claims that itâs just like the movies and the truth is that listening to his cd is as if someone had composed the soundtrack for a movie based on your life. Now, how often can you say something like that for a debut album?"

- Lisa Tziamali, somewhere-else-magazine.co.uk

I'm 21 years old, living in London, just finished a music degree at Goldsmiths College. In between crazy avant-garde composition assignments I have enjoyed composing and performing my own piano-based songs. Over almost a year I've recorded an EP of five studio recordings and seven live tracks with the help of Avocado Music Productions and many, very generous, creative people. Big thanks and credit to the wonderful Indi Davies for all the album art - indiabra@hotmail.com

My influences fall into two main areas, the artsy piano-based singer-songwriter types (Tori Amos, Rufus Wainwright, Regina Spektor, Fiona Apple, Antony and the Jonsons) and trip-hop/experimental electro (Bjork, Sigur Ros, Mum, Martin Grech, Lamb, Aphex Twin, Hafler Trio) and I think my music inevitably reflects that. I also love Musical Theatre and have done some work in Producing/Musical Directing, and am working on composing my own musical.

I suppose I'm "Indie" by genre, though to me that always conjures up images of lethargic guitar-bands with distractingly beautiful boys...
I guess I'm just jealous..

disclaimer:

i know that every note i sing's been sung before
so what's the point in singing?
i know that every thought i think's been thought before
so what's the point in thinking?

i guess i'll never understand the rules to this game
never understand if you or i are to blame
so i'd better keep on writing lovesongs in your name
