Hoss took his guitar to grade school in Paris, Texas, one day & found out that girls liked guitar players. He's been playing ever since starting with The Huggins Brothers on their own live Paris radio show on KFTV & KPLT Radio & the Red River Jamboree, then the Big "D' Jamboree on KRLD in Dallas & then Shreveport's famous Louisiana Hay Ride on KWKH. Opening shows for the late Johnny Horton, Roy Acuff, The Wilburn Bros. Jimmy Martin & J. D. Crowe was not unusual in those days. The live shows got him on local radio as a DJ in Paris then KZAK & KROZ in Tyler, Tx. which allowed him to emcee shows for Johnny Cash, Loretta Lynn, Mel Tillis, Porter Wagoner & Dolly Parton, Alabama, The Oak Ridge Boys, Barbara Mandrel, Steve Wariner & many others. He & the Band once backed Freddy Fender for a show at Harvey Hall in Tyler. After a TV career at NBC & CBS, Hoss was recently inducted into the 2011 TEXAS RADIO HALL of FAME in Houston.
