BIO: History: For someone that has never taken a single musical lesson of any type ever, has taught himself extremely well. Investing $100 into a guitar and amp at age 12 and attempting to learn even the simplest single string song seemed like an impossible feat. So the guitar sat and collected a fine amount of dust over the next year. Then one day with a little reasoning Mr Merczel decided that if he could teach himself how to play some Jimi Hendrix songs that he would learn scales, riffs and adopt everything from duplicating Hendrix. Beleiving that he would be able to play anything there after. This turned out to be true. With this attitude and only a beginners guitar book(small list of cords and how to tune a guitar) Mr Merczel set out to learn Hendrix songs proved to be too difficult. Mr Merczel did find a song he could play using this technique but it was not Hendrix. It was a Bob Seger song from Silver Bullet Band and he could play the rhythm guitar from start to end but this was all he could play. Then came How many more times by Led Zepplin. But this time he learned the lead and rhythm guitar start to end note for note but that was the only two things he could play. Attempting a Hendrix song again with two songs under his belt and about six months (24-7) worth of practice he learned, Peace in Mississippi from Jimi's Crash Landing album. Of all songs to learn of Jimi's this was no easy task, yet Mr Merczel could play rhythm or lead from start to end and he even had the feedback parts down to a tee but this was all he could play and he did it extremely well! After two years Mr Merczel's tactics of self taught guitar was paying off and had developed the nick name, "The White Hendrix". If by chance or sheer luck you heard there was a jam happening somewhere and Merczel was going to be playing, people would go out of their way to check out the hype. This happened in his teen years(15,16),his guitaring was better than most people that had many more years of picking experience. Then one day due to unforseen circumstances and wondering how he was to develop into his own style and not being able to better himself feeling in a rut Merczel did the unimaginable. He put down his guitar and quit playing for 10 years. Regretting that he quit Merczel has dusted off his strings, made a come back and is better than he ever was. This time Merczel was careful not to taint his style. He self taught and created his very own music. Merczel had to relearn everything he learned on guitar. This time Merczel took it a couple of steps farther and also learned how to play keyboard and harmonica all on his own accord... and the rest will be... history. WINDOW TO MY SOUL (WTMS) CD DESCRIPTION Merczel admitts that this CD, was never to leave the walls of his home, but due to the response he received from friends and his loved ones, Merczel decided to publish his CD. Merczel also admitts that the WTMS CD was originally produced only for his sweetheart and wants the world to know this. WTMS CD is more than mellow compared to most of Merczel's music and this is most noticeable in the guitaring in WTMS as compared to the music(the guitar is quite heavy). Merczel states that all songs, except #3 "All my love to you", was recorded in 2003. As #3 was recorded weeks before WTMS was released in 2005. Song #3 was meant to be published and sticks out like a sore thumb according to Merczel. He suggests, to check this one out. Merczel is given all the credit due, due to the fact that he is entirely responsible for the making of WTMS CD from Cover to Recording and has had no outside help what so ever.......This is "Truly a Homegrown Artist".
