Indie rock/Post-punk with synths and an unbeatable groove.
11 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Punk, ELECTRONIC: Dance
Details:
From the rubber capital of the world, Akron, Ohio, the industrial city that spawned such bands as Devo, The Waitresses, and Tin Huey, emerges a fresh indie-rock outfit known as Waiting for Evangeline. At a time when buzz-generating band like blues duo, the Black Keys, and prog rock popsters, the Party of Helicopters, are bringing a lot of attention to the northeastern Ohio music scene, Waiting for Evangeline is making their contribution to the indie-rock/post-punk genre.
The band was formed in the spring of 2003 by guitarist/vocalist Aaron Novak and drummer B.J. Barbieri. It was completed with the additions of bassist Chad Jolly and guitarist Josh Clevenger, and most recently Chas Tesar on microkorg. Waiting for Evangeline is fused from some of the finest Northeastern Ohio acts ranging from the pop punk bands, the Slowpokes and Middle Name Danger, to synth pop darlings, Churchbuilder. Combine all of their talents with an energetic live show and you have a band that is motivated to write, record, and tour non-stop.
Waiting for Evangeline plays out often, from the classic Grog Shop in Cleveland, to the Lime Spider in Akron, with bands such as the Jealous Sound, Hey Mercedes, The Plain White T's, Murder by Death, Rasputina, Armor for Sleep, Mae, Enon, Vaux, Brandtson, Fire When Ready, Fall Out Boy, and the Beautiful Mistake.
In 2005 Waiting for Evangeline signed to Cleveland's Wash Sale Label and recorded their first full length album, System Malfunction. It was released November 3rd 2005 and was immediately supported by a national tour.
