The Atomic Chaser Review - New York - USA
Long live lyrical shred! Long live musical guitarists! Long live Zeni Danussi! Imagine being able to take the best of Joe Satriani's soul and lyricism, Steve Vai's inventiveness and modalities, Eric Johnson's impeccable technique and John Petrucci's progressiveness, and fuse them all together. Throw in Danussi's own fire, originality and intensity.
What you get, is Zeni Danussi

MY GUITAR BLEEDS - EP REVIEWS:
AAA MUSIC REVIEW - LONDON
Bringing us the finest in prog-tinged metal shredding, Zeni Danussi's EP 'My Guitar Bleeds' is no mere exercise in talented wankery, but a real stab at instrumental expression that eschews the rampant pretentiousness and turgid scale-bothering that so many talented guitarists fall into when recording instrumental solo ablums to instead give us a breath of fresh air as we are treated to merely 17 minutes of the nuanced thrill of a beautiful instrument played extraordinarily well.
Coming at us courtesy of stormy synth intros like a monster over the horizon, title track 'My Guitar Bleeds' builds slowly into a wailing groove metal beast, with distortion used to not just add edge - the edge and attitude are all in the searing strut and stomp of the groove - but to make the guitar notes sing in an eerie, keening manner removed from your bog standard sound into the realm of the uncanny valley as far as effects and tone is concerned.
The lead melody isn't so much yowling as battling itself in this surreal, thunderous intro. As for the crowning glory of epic battles, 'Danger Zone' once again builds those ominous synths in a cinematic manner, pierced with savage pick scrape echoes that make the hairs on the back of your neck stand to attention.
Once it gets going, the chugging rhythm guitar and sinuous predatory drumming provide a sturdy structure for the furious lead, which creates a fiery explosion of notes that is structured in a manner so artful it is effortless, and one that hits its stride so well it has to be faded out rather than bring itself to a close.
'Rules for Fools' could for all the world be the intergalactic lovechild of Guns N Roses snarl and the fantastical leanings of Iron Maiden.
There's technical ability here without a doubt, but it is the invention and climactic invocation of true majesty that works here to elevate Danussi.
The rapid fretwork is counterpointed by long notes, and the result is something so well constructed, it is a song without words and a bloody good one at that.
But where Danussi really pulls it out the bag is by including the emotive introspective oasis that is 'Tear Of The Heart'.
What is the point of the grandeur without respite? Here, with a guitar sound so versatile it plays the part of space-age synth (ever heard anything that is simultaneoulsy so mechannically futuristic yet so organic?) and power metal vocals, accompanied by ballad drumkit and semi-acoustic melodic backing, we are given the utopia vision of the EP's fantasy realms.
To close, the dogged thickly-textured maelstrom 'Knock of Death' uses a determined bass drum stomp and restrained pacing to create a real sense of the climactic. This being where our gallant space knight rises from the ashes to defeat the villain.
Fingertip destroying solos have moved aside for crunching gravelly chords and cavernous drum / bass to create this final closure, and a sense of artistic and narrative satisfaction.
The world of heavy metal guitarists is one that is flooded by proficient blokes who can play baroque series of notes with lunatic speed and efficiency. However Zeni Danussi is not only talented, but displays a real artistic flair for crafting entire sonic realms.
Add an awareness of the improtance of pacing, mood and the orchestration of the other instruments to compliment his solos, and it is for these reasons that without further ado, I name Zeni Danussi a true guitar virtuoso.
POWERPLAY MAGAZINE REVIEW - ENGLAND
Bloomin' heck, this guy can really play a mean guitar and make it very entertaining. I honestly feel that I shouldn't have to go any further and just say check this EP out. It's quite amazing music and if you don't agree then you've got no musical soul and shouldn't be reading such a fine tome as this.
This five track EP is another tremendous offering from Zeni Danussi. Maybe the EP title is a bit on the cheesy side but that aside, the music is first class. Away from his full-length concept piece "After Shock", Zeni now showcases what he can do with stand alone songs.
Opener 'My Guitar Bleeds' gets the ball rolling and it's a stong and powerful masterpiece of guitar playing in amongst a thick layered atmospheric sounding backdrop. It'll definitely make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up, a menacing yet simple undercurrent of heavy riffs brought to life by some neat fretboard gymnastics.
'Rules for Fools' is a compact jaunt through a Satriani styled musical feast of a song. 'Tear of the Heart' has a hint of the Lep's 'Hysteria' to it and is probably the one song that this amateur widdler would have a go at following (very badly, I might add).
'Danger Zone' and 'Knock of Death' complete the EP. Great instrumental songs, all done with a sense of style and panache that many who produce similar endeavours just fail to deliver.
It's sometimes quite hard to separate the wheat from the chaff when it comes to instrumental albums (and EPs) of this sort but there can be no doubt that Zeni Danussi is a talent that should be given a chance to shine.
Has anyone ever seen this man's eyes? Giger Ibanez guitar, long hair, shades and a fretboard wizard...need I say any more?

THE ATOMIC CHASER REVIEW - NEW YORK - USA
Zeni Danussi steps up to the plate to deliver his new EP - 'My Guitar Bleeds'. It's a home run! Well worth the wait to all his many guitar music fans. This new collection of modern melodic tunes is nothing short of amazing.
Many tube tone flavors, that can be heard right off the bat with the title track and 'Rules for Fools'. On 'Tear of the Heart' Danussi shows even when he downshifts his guitar work can be quite amazing.
The last two tracks, 'Danger Zone' and 'Knock of Death', exhibit Danussi power and energetic delivery.
Showing why this man is in a league of his own. Ear candy indeed! A true master of the fretted instrument and inspiring song-writing! What can I say. 'My Guitar Bleeds' is a great instrumental CD! Zeni Danussi shows off his skill in a balanced and melodic manner, unlike some who just noodle all over.
The tunes each have a musical story to tell and are engaging. The production is outstanding. If you like instrumental guitar you should go out and get this one, it's not to be missed.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
