I, Marche "Cartier" Meeks, began rapping professionally in 1995. As a solo Artist, named Shady, my first project was created in June 1996, three songs were accomplished, "Mo Money"; "Lost Lands" and "Ride", none of which were aggressively shopped.

In November 1996 we formed a group called "Uprise". This group consisted of myself and two friends, Michael "Typhoon" Pearson and Lamont "L-Roc" Bentley, who was also a Co-Star on the hit TV show Moesha. During this period we were involved with G-Wiz from Worldwide Management.

In January 1997, we went back to work on our second project demo and a month later, eight songs were produced. Those songs were "Money Handed to Me"; which featured: Atlantic recording artist Ray J Norwood, (Brandy's younger brother, singing background and produced by Vic Concepcion, the brother of Michael Concepcion of Grand Jury Records. "Lights Off", featuring Countess Vaughn, from "The Parkers" and produced by Stewart "Stu-b-doo" Billiard, who is a former producer from the Aftermath Camp. "U-turn" which featured Fredro Starr, from the Def Jam recording rap group, Onyx, produced ny 1200, which also produced RAS Kass, (Rassassination) and Ray J's follow up album.

I met major management groups, such as Phil Morrison Management, Sonia Norwood of Norwood & Norwood Management. By May of 1997 we had performed at Moesha's Christmas Party, UPN's Beach Party, Camp Pendleton in San Diego and the 10th Anniversary of Ruthless Records.

The second demo project was completed in July 1997 and we began shopping it to the following: Virgin Records; Dream Works; Hollywood Records, MCA; and Priority Records. We received positive feedback but needed better production so we kept working.

December 1997, we completed 20 more songs and started doing more shows: Moesha's 3rd Annual Christmas Party; The Unity Fest at the Sports Arena; Big Lez's Birthday Bash at El Rey's; Rodney Hampton Celebrity Basketball, Weekend Bash and The Rock-n-Jock in Milwaukee.

As the group started to get a buzz, Uprise the group was falling apart. By March of 1998, I took a brief detour, unforeseen circumstances and personal challenges proved to be a career setback. Feeling an independent urge for freedom, I left the group Uprise and its management and by September 1998, Eric Wiggins, my brother, Terrence Meeks, and I started an Entertainmentc Company called "Hit Roc Entertainment". The company was structured with a Board of Staff, Producers, Songwriters, Engineers and PR Personnel.

By January 1999, I'd completed my first album: "The Foundation", of which received a lot of underground recognition. Focusing more on mainstream, we decided to go back into the Studio to record our second album. during the summer of 1999 I went to Texas to work on a VH1 movie called, "The MC Hammer Story". Upon my return, I began to the finishing touches to my second album, "Operation Takeover" and with the need for more live performances we began to do more shows. We performed at the Martini Lounge; Hollywood Park Casino; The Rumba Room; The Watts Festival; Dragon Fly and we were the opening act for Digital Underground at the Key Club.Due to the streets and lack of money I took other brief detour, January 2006 i started to release my album under my indie Records Company CTC Entertainment. After three demos, two albums, over a hundreds of un-released songs and 10 years active in this industry the satisfaction to the release of OPERATION:TAKEOVER was imparent.
