The Coinop Revenge's debut album is like a military-crawl through the tunnels of Alternative Rock, Electro-Pop, New Wave, broken homes and secret lives; inspired by the likes of Depeche Mode, XTC and Nine Inch Nails.
8 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Modern Rock, POP: with Electronic Production
Details:
The Coinop Revenge is the alter ego of Spencer Wysinger. As the project's overlord, he toils in the studio in a never-ending effort to create the perfect hybrid of Rock, Electronica and New Wave.
His debut release, For Dramatic Effect, is an episode of ADD wrapped in a thin veil of OCD. The album quickly takes you through just a small fragment of his mind, starting with heavy muted guitar riffs and eventually moving to techno beats and piano-centric melodic pop. The album makes its way back to driving rock before dissolving into a solution of Aphex-inspired triggers. Once burned out on the caloric roller-coaster, the album crashes into a slow acoustic reprise of an earlier theme. Like a madman who screams his mantra only to find him five years later huddled in a corner muttering it in shame... and all of this happens in just 22 minutes.
Definitely check out this release. As Spencer himself says, "It's better than blowing the cash on a cheap hooker... I hope."
