A unique style of music I call 'Acoustic Croon,' mixing early jazz/pop influences with modern acoustic and electric sensibilities, employing gentle swing chords on the guitar, lush satin harmonies, and lyrically a touch of melancholy and humor.

Details:
'Acoustic Croon' is how I describe much of the music on this album- it's a mix of early jazz/pop influences (ala Ink Spots, Bing Crosby, Mills Brothers, Johnny Mercer) with modern acousic and electric sensibilities, with lots of gentle swing chords on the guitar, lush satin harmonies (ala Brian Wilson), and a tradewind of melancholia and humor drifting through the lyrics. My parents were of the World War II generation, consequently I was exposed to a healthy dose of early jazz/pop as a kid, which my father would attempt to make us sing on the lving room carpet. But in my teens and twenties I went to work playing acoustic rock in the restaurants and bars near where I grew up in Connecticut. So somewhere along the line, I guess these differing influences just got all mixed up in my head.
Much of the album is comprised of original material, with some 1940's old standards tossed in (like 'The Java Jive,' 'I'll be Around' and 'I'm an Old Cowhand from the Rio Grande). One of the songs I wrote on the album, called 'Somewhere'(which is more folk rock, and less Acoustic Croon) is a 2006 finalist in the VH-1 Song of the Year Contest.
The official release of the album is scheduled for Friday, January 5, 2007, and will take place at 6:00 p.m. at The NOMA Art Gallery on Main Street, Middletown, CT. (860-344-0768). The album will be available for purchase only at The NOMA Art Gallery and at
CD BABY.com. I hope you like it (or at least some of it), and I hope you want to buy a gazillion of them, even though only a hundred copies have been pressed.
