I had a contract with the Navy Band of Australia .5 years. Everything from Big Band tours, Jazz, Rock, Pop, Choir, Parade music and opportunities to sing around the world. But I'm no has been! Check out the tunes. Some may move you even! I'm a Frontman with a voice that I guess combines the likes of Louis Jordan, Harry Connick Jr, Freddie Mercury, Stevie Wonder and Al Green to get some kind of comparison! Born in Auckland New Zealand in 1970, my upbringing included hearing Jazz greats on vinyl, which my Dad had a keen taste for. The radio used to stay on all night in my bedroom as a teenager-but very quietly! My brothers and sisters provided a various diet of folk, disco and heavy rock. Drums started around twelve years old, when my next older brother introduced me to musical basics. Guitar was not far away either, and an abiding fascination with Rhythm and Melody has continued since. The first look at singing which I recall, was a talent quest at the local mall. I sang 'Beth' by Kiss. Probably about 10 years old I was. They rewarded me with about 12 icecreams, that melted quickly on that hot day. My family sure was impressed. A TV appearance on a childrens show followed soon after. "PG and the Hot Tips" (TVNZ) for that I was a drummer (miming to the recording!)
At 20, I relocated to Sydney Australia, to maximize opportunities. From Country rock drummer/singer to Guitarist/Singer to Frontman, the development is ongoing. An 18 month stint as a Funeral director in Sydney financed my first album "The Freedom Game". (2001) I wouldnt do that job again easily....
i guess if you like Marilyn Manson, death metal or thrash, you wont like this album. it is not afraid to be a little mellow in parts, there is a song for my Mum, and the single Mother I was dating when I wrote that particular tune. there are funky elements in this work and a pop sensibility that goes further than verse/chorus/bridge/coda!
The new album 'Drawn' of which I wrote and mostly played is for sale, as an unsigned artist. This has taken 5 years to complete due to touring schedules and this thing called Life! I produced it over a year and am very proud of it!
Please buy it and help me with my rent. Thank you. Or tell your friends that 'their song' could be something I made.
