Electric Dinosaurs was hatched on a Caribbean island as a studio project with a free flowing vibe encasing the thirteen primordial elements presented. The artist, Robert Phillips, is the driving force behind all the instrumentation and electronic enhancements, except for "Electric Dinosaur/Ghost Writers on the Storm", which was a collaborative effort with his cousin William Johnston. The eclectic mix of material on the album is sure to please listeners who appreciate variety. To date, one album has been produced by Electric Dinosaurs with the ultimate creation being achieved by February 2004.
The album opens with "Prototype Experience", a fast paced, in your face, gentlemen - start your engines approach. "Steel-Y-Aur Stomp" is simply a tribute to Led Zeppelin master guitarist, Jimmy Page. The album changes pace with "Country Boogie Jam", a country fried batch of acid/blues rock. The Pulse of "Troll Bridge Ahead" is sure to please, with a hypnotic meditative approach. One of the secrets to "Nefarious" is that the drums and guitar are played by one artist at the same time; Robert Phillips... it's just feedback ecstasy. One might compare "Nefarious" to a Jackson Pollock painting. "Theme From Salvo" simply pushes the Heavy Metal envelope suggesting that the genres of metal and psychedelic can live and rock together. For the record, "Kingdom Come" was written in reference to fantasy novels and has no bearing on world religions. In closing "Vanchi" is a nice foreign oriented "BAM!", adding spice to the entire package.
While Electric Dinosaurs has been hibernating for quite awhile, the goal is to come out of the cave roaring with energy with a follow up to this first album - ELECTRIC DINOSAURS: GHOST WRITER.
