What They Sound Like:
Everyone says their band is so original that they donât sound like anyone else, and we all know thatâs bullshit. Unfortunately, there arenât too many bands that sound like Emperors of Japan. The group is influenced by bands like Radiohead, Queens of the Stone Age, Death From Above 1979, Autechre, Aphex Twin, Nirvana, Broken Social Scene, and Secret Machines. Mostly itâs big guitars, keyboards (synthetic and organic), acoustic and electronic drums, some samples, vocals with the occasional falsetto, and xylophones.

Where Theyâve Played:
EOJ formed in June of 2005 and have been playing shows in Phoenix, AZ and throughout the Southwest (AZ, NM, and CA) ever since. The members of the band were formerly in other projects â most specifically Pistols at Dawn (which was an SXSW alternate in 2004).
