Ed Bertoli can best be described as middle aged suburban schlub who ocasionally used to pass the time playing the pub scene in cover bands. Recently, he discovered a long-hidden talent for writing "reasonably decent" (so his friends claim) songs - and thanks to the miracle of modern technology he was able to record them in the privacy of his own amateur home studio without need of a second mortgage. And now, he figures it's time to subject them to public scrutiny... er, to share them with you, dear friends.

Ed's recently-completed CD of original songs is titled "Icarus has Fallen". Here's what he has to say about it:

"I played all of the instruments on the CD except for the drums, and I wrote or co-wrote all of the songs. My good friend and vocalist extraordinaire Hilliard (Hills) Walter sang on all of the tracks, and co-wrote some of the songs with me as well. Hills lives in Kitchener Ontario, about a 90 minute drive from my home in the Niagara Falls Canada area. We recorded his vocal tracks live to the mix at his home, as well as swapping MP3 files over the net. And when I needed a drummer to add some life and fire to the recordings, I was put in touch with Rick Neufeld, a Niagara Falls musician with impeccable percussion sensibilities. It took all of two evenings in the studio to get the percussion tracks completed, but Rick sounded like he had been playing the songs all his life. I would describe the style as mostly eclectic retro 70's rock - influenced very much by the kind of music I grew up with and loved. But with some interesting contemporary twists.
