Details:
Filled with passion in her voice and an acoustic guitar in hand, Bethany made her way through many open mics and coffee shop gigs as a solo artist. She had a raw talent and strong vocals that she combined with emotional and honest lyrics. Her music was original and powerful. Still, she knew what was missing. Despite her love for playing at coffee shops and open mics, which she would continue to do, she wanted to take it to the next level.
Bethany had been working on recording some of her songs with a long-time friend, Troy Roberts. Troy was also a guitarist as well as an audio engineer. Aside from helping her work on her first album, he would occasionally play with her at a few of her gigs. This process of recording her first album would go on to take about 3 years, until they decided to bring bass player and audio engineer, Chris Priebe, on board. Chris was a few years younger than the two others, but they had all known each other for years. After many years, Chris and Bethany's friendship suddenly developed into a serious relationship, despite the age difference. They soon got married and it only made sense that he would join Bethany in her musical endeavors. The fourth edition to the band was Bethany's cousin, Cori Orlowski. Cori would bring a lot to the newfound group with her percussion, harmonica and guitar abilities. They were now a full band... and they needed a name. After a while of thinking hard about it, Chris and Bethany came up with the honest name 'Failing Perfection'. The band wanted to focus on striving for excellence, even though we all fail at perfection. The band also knew that it is through their imperfections that Christ is able to change them.
The band started playing actual shows, but still often found themselves stuck in the 'coffee shop' scene. They realized a drummer was needed. After many 'misfit' and temporary drummers, the band was finally joined by Ben Esh. With Ben Esh on the drums, Troy Roberts on electric guitar, Chris Priebe on bass, Cori Orlowski on percussion and harmonica, and Bethany Priebe with the same acoustic driven melodies and powerfully beautiful voice that once captivated coffee shop patrons, 'Failing Perfection' took on a whole new sound. Their debut album, "And Still Tomorrow", was finally finished and engineered by Chris Priebe and Troy Roberts. It was released under Chris and Bethany Priebe's record label, 'Out of Stock Records' (www.outofstockrecords.com) on November 11th, 2006.
