"A t-shirt and jeans blend of pop, rock, soul and honesty" 13 MP3 Songs POP: Piano, ROCK: Acoustic Details: Described as a "t-shirt and jeans blend of pop, rock, soul, and honesty," the music of the Freddie Long Band (affectionately known as "The FLB") has been turning the heads and ears of many--from folkies to metal-heads alike. Since its conception, the four-piece pop/rock group has been packing venues in their area (just peruse the photo section of their website) playing a mix of their own catchy and introspective original music alongside unique, high-energy versions of thoughtfully selected cover favorites. The energy and enthusiasm of the group often makes it hard to distinguish who is having the most fun, the FLB fans or the band they have come to share the night with. The Freddie Long Band was formed in the summer of 2005 by songwriter/performer Freddie Long. Fresh out of college and looking to continue his music career with a larger live arrangement, Freddie auditioned several musicians and found some of the most talented players in his area. Within a week of playing together the band was already gigging and receiving many positive responses. The FLB has been playing regularly in the Mid-Atlantic ever since, booking and playing large area festivals/events and sharing bills with popular regional acts including the Kelly Bell Band, Scott Ambush, Mary Ann Redmond, Shea Quinn and The Luv Gods. Recent performances/bookings include Frederickâs Summer Concert Series and IN THE STREET Festivals, Tarara Wineryâs Sounds of Summer Festival in Leesburg, VA, Seacrets night club in Ocean City, MD, Harrisburgâs American Music Fest and Kipona Festivals (the largest music festival in PA), Charles Town Races and Slots in Charles Town, WV, the Codorus Summer Blast Festival in Hanover, PA, and the 2006 Hagerstown Suns Chili Cook-Off and Music Festival. The individual members of this dynamic quartet have an impressive list of credentials on their own. Lead guitarist Chris Bell has played with members of Blue Oyster Cult and the Beastie Boys among others, and has opened shows for Nazareth, Blue Oyster Cult, and Motorhead. Bell also placed in the top three in DC 101âs 2005 âFind the Real Guitaristâ on-air contest with Alter Bridge and Elliot in the Morning, playing alongside Creedâs Mark Tremonti. Drummer Ken Deater has sung and played drums for several regional bands, including Ashley Marie and Family (with guitarist Chris Bell), The Rain, Oxford Shock, and RainBo. Bassist Randy Mazzi previously toured with D.C. band The Digits. Freddie Long has shared stages with several well-known regional and national acts, including drummer Steve Smith of Journey. Long's original music has received airplay on several commercial radio stations, has been used in regional FM radio broadcast commercials, and has been added to the national E-Cast digital jukebox network. With a forecast of an exciting year ahead, The Freddie Long Band continues to perform regularly in the Mid-Atlantic region supporting their debut release, "Strangers and Friends." in partnership with CDbaby User tags: Votes: Reviews: Review it!
