Born the older of 2 boys from my father's first marriage, then my parents separated when I was 3yrs old and we went to live with my mother. I was born Catholic and went to a Catholic school until I was 6 yrs old when my mother became a Pentecostal Christian. I was entrenched in the Pentecostal religion 24/7 up until I was 13yrs old when I went to live with my father. I went thru high school more as an observer and found myself in college doing the same thing. I wasn't one to follow but still had a normal childhood. I would go visit my mother for a week at a time at my grandmother's house with my aunt. We would all sit around the dinner table and they would argue about religion. My grandmother was a devoted Catholic, my mother a Pentecostal Pastor/Missionary and my aunt a Jehovah's Witness. Now I would sit back and listen and rapid fire questions to them all of which they could not answer. One I would always ask is "Why is there an old man in the sky who creates a place called (HELL) if he loves you so much." And "Why does this GOD need money all the time if he is so powerful?" and "Why do we need to go thru someone else to get to know him direct?" oh and one last thing in the sacred text written thousands of years ago why is there is no mention of Dinosaurs? I was 13yrs and they couldn't give me a straight answer and all the answers were based on a word called (FAITH). For me faith is built upon belief and belief is built upon evidence. Evidence is the feeling in any experience. This is why I always check in with my truth meter when I read any source of information outside of myself before I take it on as belief. I strongly suggest you do the same even with this book. I really don't have any beliefs, I have concepts and ideas but I don't believe in them. So as a young boy I was in the middle of a religious war zone with my family at both ends. Actually it wasn't that bad they were very nice to each other but it gave me a great starting point. So for me in my teen years I had a good foundation once I start to explore drinking, girls (sex) and drugs. I was able to make some good decisions. I started out working in the restaurant industry and worked my way up to bartender. I stayed in the industry for 20 yrs, with my last job being in a major downtown club. Now the lifestyle of a bartender is what I compare to living like a Rock Star. You sleep all day, work 2 days out of the week; make the same money or more as a full time job. You have access to Sex/Drugs and Alcohol 24/7. This experience loop is very hard to break. That part of my life I saw how low you can go on auto pilot (experience Loop), I had so many good friends die from drinking/driving and from overdosing on drugs. I was a part of that world but I was fortunate to have a good foundation to be in it but not devoured by it. Having seen what people can do to themselves weekend after weekend I was able to make the comparison on what do I want for myself . I had a choice point too continue in that same experience loop or to break the connection.
