John is a retired aerospace business manager now teaching English at Belvidere High School in Belvidere, Illinois. He has been married more than forty years to his East Texas high school sweetheart, Bobby Jo Shepherd, and they have four children and eleven grandchildren. He enjoys being with his family, working in his yard and garden, sports, reading, crossword puzzles, genealogy, and traveling to their time shares. He is active in leadership positions in his church and has served twice as a Mormon bishop. He has worked for NASA's Manned Spacecraft Center on the Apollo and Skylab Programs and for contractors negotiating and managing the Mars Viking Lander Program, the Titan III Launch Vehicle Program, the Space Shuttle External Tank Program, domestic and international satellite programs, and various classified programs. He has a BA in English and History from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas, and an MBA from Texas A&M University in Commerce, Texas, and he is a certified public school administrator. A book of John's poetry will soon be published.
