Singer-Songwriter Gemma Genazzano has swept away audiences from Europe to the US with her seductive vocals in polished, yet fresh and spontaneous performances for over ten years. Born and raised in Barcelona, Spain, she completed her early musical studies at the Liceu Conservatory while finishing a B.A. in Fine Arts at the San Jordi University. Shortly afterwards she moved to the US to complete the vocal performance degree at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, where she graduated magna cum laude on achievement based scholarships and was a member of the schoolâs world famous Reverence Gospel Choir
She presently resides in New York City where she works with the worldâs most respected jazz musicians, including Saxophonist Mark Gross (Dave Holland Big Band), Cuban Drummer, Francisco Mela (Kenny Barron, Joe Lovano) and Bassist Kevin Jenkins (Shamikia Copeland), all of whom recorded with her on her third CD, âLike a Woman in Love.â The CD was produced by singer Marlon Saunders (Bobby Mc Ferrin, Sting, Michael Jackson, Billy Joel, Jazzhole) and presented at New Yorkâs legendary âBlue Noteâ in June, 2006, and on tour throughout the summer in Spain, featured at over a dozen music festivals, including the Sitges Jazz Festival, and âel Teatre Principal de Mahon,â Menorca. She was the featured artist in February 2007 in Madison Square Garden at the Colgate Games.
Her first CD, âFree Spirits,â was released at Virgin Megastore in Barcelona in 1998. Her second CD, âInto the Nightâ was recorded and released in Boston in 2004.
