Details:
Greg Glassman is one of New York City's hottest creative young jazz artists. Recently featured at as Dave Douglas' Festival of New Trumpet Music at the Jazz Standard, Greg has chalked up over 1,000 performances in 4 continents; Not bad for a 29 year-old. He has shared the stage and studio with some of the world's great musical voices including, Clark Terry, Roswell Rudd, Marcus Belgrave, Sherman Irby, Sheila Jordan, Jane Monheit, Oliver Lake, Oscar Perez, Benny Wallace, Donald Walden, John Hicks, Wynton Marsalis, as well as The Skatalites, Bad Brains, The Strokes, and many more.
Onward and Upward is the first effort from Mr. Glassman and his working band. The compositions are raw and striking, masterful in their clarity and depth. The bandmembers, Quincy Davis, Danton Boller, and Dave Pier are among the most in-demand rhythm sectioners on the NY scene, and are featured at length. Joining the core group are top vibes-man Bryan Carrott, of Ralph Peterson Fo-tet fame, and Detroit saxophone legend Donald Walden, who was a mentor to Mr. Glassman at Oberlin College.
To enjoy Onward and Upward is to instantly become a fan, not only of the music, but what Greg Glassman stands for as an artist and human: freedom, compassion, joy, truth.
