Kansas City Bluesman, GLENN PATRIK, sings Deep Blues with pain and joy from his own life stories & comes at you with some STINGIN' guitar on his self penned debut CD "Mr. Blues Jr.". "The Blues has it's way with you. Once you in, you in."
8 MP3 Songs
BLUES: Electric Blues, BLUES: Guitar Blues
Details:
Everything that GLENN PATRIK has ever heard, musically or otherwise, has definitely been an influence on his sense of tempo, lyrics, melody and presentation!
When Glenn was very young, he easily learned to read music quite well, but in a classical form. This skill, along with the incredible talent to stylistically sing and play several instruments with ease, combined with years of devotion to rigorous practice, gave Glenn the ability years later, to "learn your show this afternoon - go on tour tomorrow".
In the Kansas City neighborhood in which Glenn grew up, the musicians pretty much played Soul music and The Blues, and he accepted the same approach. Glenn was exposed, starting at about the age of 6, to live shows and recordings from the likes of Freddy King & Albert Collins as well as artists such as Archie Bell and the Drells & The Count Basie Orchestra, and much more music in those same veins. Glenn says " I can feel Mozart right along with Nat Cole, Django Rheinhardt along with some George Clinton. Then, throw in some Hound Dog Taylor, Aaron Neville, the Carter Family with Too Live Crew & Count Basie"! To this mix, add the influence of Kansas City Blues guitar legend Leon Estelle, and your starting to feel where Glenn is coming from. And Glenn, like every guitarist alive today, has heard and admired Hendrix.
GLENN built his Blues foundation as a vocalist, guitarist, and arranger in the bands of many Blues greats such as Little Hatch & the Houserockers, Ray Drew, Chick Willis, Abb Locke, Leon Estelle, Anetta "Cotton Candy" Washington, Millage Gilbert, Valerie Wellington, Lefty Dizz, George Baze, and Joe Houston (he also spent a year on the road with the great jazz vocalist Kevin Mahogany), just to name a few.
"I've spent the last thirty somethin' years tryin' to show up early, look sharp, and deliver the guitar/vocal sound that the boss was lookin' for".
As you might imagine from reading this comment, Glenn has plenty of his own ideas about the progression and sound of contemporary blues. These ideas have influenced the direction that he's now following, both live and on his recordings!
Join Glenn Patrik as he shares eight original songs from his soul, on his debut CD "Mr. Blues Jr.", on the SHAKEHOUSE RECORDS label!
