Gary Gillispie is a very versatile pianist and tireless improvisor of classical and popular music. Gary has performed and taught piano, theory and improvisation in Houston for over 30 years. As former director of the Houston Conservatory of Music, where Gary began teaching in 1968, he accompanied numerous solo and chamber music groups in benefit and fundraising recitals. Gary has played for the Houston Ballet, American Music/Drama Academy, Houston Music Teachers Association, Opera in the Heights, Houston Musicians Union, Italian Cultural Center, American Ballet and the Houston Dance Center. He has played with several jazz greats such as Arnette Cobb, Kirk Franklin, Steve Allen, Frankie Laine and many others.

Gary attended the University of Houston, University of St. Thomas, St. Vincent's Academy and Philadelphia Music Academy. He has performed with the Houston Symphony, Galveston Symphony and Symphony North of Houston. Presently, Gary is teaching at Writers in the Round and Brook Mays PianoMax in Houston, Texas, and he teaches private lessons. He also teleconferences piano performances to Florida State Hospital in Orlando on a weekly basis. Gary also serves as music director for Company on Stage where this year "GodSpell" is being performed in November and December 2006. Gary is the organist for the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral, where he has played for the past four years.
