Description:
Designed for mono-lingual children in a multi-cultural world, this fun sing-along music is specifically designed to teach little ears, brains, and tongues Spanish.

18 MP3 Songs
KIDS/FAMILY: General Children's Music, LATIN: Rock en Espanol

Details:
Sing-along music designed for your children to introduce the sounds and words of Spanish... it's simple. It's repetitive. Mostly, it seems like fun and playful music, and then suddenly you're "hablaing" español together!

This playful and educational music is comprised of 18 original songs written by an educator-anthropologist-mother, and arranged by a world-renowned musician. It is an organic approach to learning a foreign language for modern parents - children learn to say in *spanish* what would naturally come out of their mouth in their native tongue.

English translations in the accompanying playbook and alternating Spanish to English lyrics in many of the songs help you and your child seamlessly learn. Enjoy singing along to the bilingual tunes that describe the whimsical world of childhood â monkeys falling out of trees (âCuidadoâ), booming elephants ("Los Elefantes"), tasty food (âLa Comidaâ, âLa Tortaâ) and cheersing drinks (âMucho Jugoâ, "Salud"), as well as the bilingual tracks ("Amigos").

âStudies indicate that the best time for a child to learn another language is in the first three to four years of lifeâ, said Amy Conroy, Founder of Habla blah blah. âOur music introduces new languages specifically designed to target little ears, mouths, and brains at this critical period of learning and language acquisition.â

OUR TEAM

Amy Conroy
Founder

Amy Conroy is an Anthropologist, educator and mother of two young boys. Amy grew up in the Los Angeles suburbs in a typical mono-lingual English speaking environment. As an undergraduate at UCLA (B.A., Sociology 1994) she spent a semester immersed in Spanish at the University of Salamanca, Spain. By the time graduate school came along, Spanish had become a major part of Amyâs studies and a growing passion. While earning her Masters in Anthropology at San Francisco State University (M.A. 2000), she spent most of her non-classroom time polishing her Spanish speaking skills in the cities and jungles of Central America.

After Graduate school Amy went back to the roots of her own foreign language education and taught introductory Spanish to freshman and sophomore students at Mary Star of the Sea High School in San Pedro, California. She worked in the Anthropology department of the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County attempting to bridge the hard science world to public education.

Shortly after the birth of her first child, she began researching and studying language acquisition of young children. Further linguistic and anthropological research clearly supported exposing your child young in a fun way, but finding the right teaching tools proved to be a challenge. In a quest to create appropriate teaching materials for mono-lingual families, Amy has created music and classes that guarantee childrenâs exposure to Spanish will come with laughs and smiles for the whole family.

Andy Kubiszewski
Composer

Andy Kubiszewski comes to Habla blah blah with over 20 years of experience in the music industry. A world-renowned musician and composer, Andy has been an in-demand session drummer and percussionist, playing on thousands of TV and Radio commercials.

Andy spent most of the 80âs and 90âs as a drummer and songwriter for electronic Punk/new wave and alternative bands (including: Exotic Brids, Stabbing Westward and Nine Inch Nails). Highlights include; winning 2 Gold Records, touring with big acts like Dopeche Mode and The Culture Club, and playing drums on the critically acclaimed Nine Inch Nails album âThe Downward Spiralâ.

These days Andy is the music composer for numerous TV Shows including the popular Monster Garage, as well as contributing music composer to Monster House, Johnny Zero, Queer Eye for the Straight Girl, Smallville and Access Hollywood, and films The Faculty, Urban Legend, Not Another Teen Movie and The Crow: Salvation among others.

Andy received his BA in Music at the Cleveland Institute of Music, where he studied with Richard Weiner, Principal Percussionist of the Cleveland Orchestra and Cloyd Duff, Timpanist of the Cleveland Orchestra.

Laura Dahan
Lyricist

As a writer, mother, former advertising executive and avid traveler, Laura Dahan has learned the importance of applying a multi-cultural approach to child-rearing. During her undergraduate study at UCLA (B.A., Psychology 1994), she studied the science of early brain development while simultaneously serving as a nanny for a French/English bilingually educated child. This pairing of experiences first piqued Lauraâs interest in international travel and awareness of the benefits associated with a multilingual education.

Her original occupation as an advertising executive soon lead her to a career in copywriting where she has written marketing copy for organic food companies, corporate collateral, music videos and commercial treatments. Her interests in language, culture, and writing finally collided in 2001, when the freedom of freelance writing afforded Laura the opportunity to work while traveling around the world during which time she learned invaluable life lessons from multiple cultures while interacting with people of many nations. This lasting experience confirmed Lauraâs desire to teach her own children, as well as others, multiple languages from an early age, helping to promote global awareness, enhance standard education and increase international opportunities for future generations.

As a lyricist for Habla blah blah, Laura combines her skills honed as a writer with her intuition as a mother who is constantly entertaining and teaching her two young daughters.

REVIEWS

âThe Habla Blah Blah songs (CD) provides a wonderful way to interact playfully your child while also introducing to him or her the benefits of music and language,â said Kathleen Hipke, Ph.D. Child Psychology, Madison, WI. âMy 2 year old son loves music, but this is the first CD where he was able to join in singing right away.â

"We LOVE it!! My boys (ages 2 and 4) have been rocking out to the tunes⦠clapping, waving and wigglinâ in their car seats non-stop since we got the CD 2 days ago. It has been so fun⦠and the three of us are really learning too! Yes â the THREE of us⦠I am leaning right along with them. We all sing along â and if they donât know a word â they ask me⦠and if I donât know it â we all look it up together inside the CD jacket. The songs are catchy and fun â as I write this my 4 year old is quietly singing âsalud a ti, salud a miâ while he is playing with his trucks. Amazing. I am just thrilled."
- Juliet Boydstun, Los Angeles, CA

âWe love Habla blah blah it was an instant party at our house⦠this is funny! I put the Habla blah blah on for the kids in the neighborhood. They were all dancing and totally in to it. Then, I left the room. I came back five minutes later and they were⦠still grooving. Mary was even on the coffee table. It looked like a scene from Spring Break, but they were learning Spanish!â
- Anastasia Kelly, Newport Beach, CA

"Theo asks for âthe Spanish CDâ just about every time we get in the car. And when I ask him which is his favorite song, he says, âthis one. No this one. No this one.â Itâs been a lot of funning introducing Spanish and Habla Blah Blah is a fun, catchy CD that kids will want to listen to and parents will have fun singing along."
- Hilary Misiano, Los Angeles, CA

"Your CD is awesome... We can attest to the fact that your CD works Elijah was jumping in with mimicking sounds/words on every track."
- Todd Hipke, M.A., Evansville, WN
