Psychobilly? Neo-Rockabilly? Punkabilly? YES. All that and more.
6 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Rockabilly, ROCK: Punk
Details:
The Hellblasters, a band from the High Desert in California that wants to rock hard and pick up a few hookers on the way. The story of the band goes back a long way when bassist Joey Jeepers started with a line up known as the Charnel House Kreeps. We're not gonna go into that whole long story, all we'll tell you is that the band now consists of four members wanting to have fun and play their hearts out for a crowed anywhere, any time. Taking the spot of bass and vocals is Joey Jeepers, lead vocals is Billy, on Guitar is Doc. Brown and Lumpy on the skins. Four friends just wanting to have fun but at the same time we do take this band very serious. We're influenced by pretty much every type of music genre you can think of, so we tend to write songs that hit every aspect instead of sticking with just one sound. The band has its classic 1950's tunes like "Crazy Kind'a Slut", its heavy, darker songs like "Bubble Gum Lips and a Purdy Face" and even has a song with a sound that Jeepers can only describe as Blinkabilly, "We Gotta Go". Playing shows anywhere we get the chance at anytime the band is doing well in our opinion. Our first show as the Hellblasters was a battle against 9 other bands at the Key Club in Hollywood, and after that we started playing with bad ass bands and began meeting musicians we have always looked up to. We have been told by many different people that we have a sound and a style of our own, sure we have the rockabilly guitar licks and the thumb up the upright but people say they cant seem to label us. Maybe its because of all the different styles of music running through our blood, we dont know..but we dont want to be a full on Psychobilly band, and at the same time we arent a straight up raw Rockabilly band. Neo Rockabilly? We've been labeled that, but the only way to describe our style, is in the middle. Purgatory Rock n' Roll. We play everything because we can. We're not affraid of "the rules", the old line of you can only play this and listen to that. Things dont fly that way with us. We are who we are, and we let it out by beating out instruments and yelling at the top of our lungs. We hope you enjoy the site and the music, and we hope to see you at a show soon! Keep your eye out because we'll be heading to a town near you!
