As listed in the Boise Weekly:
"Acoustic From Home"
JAR-coustic and mellifluous stuff from Jean
and Rochelle, a.k.a. JAR
mel·lif·lu·ous (m-lfl-s)
adj.
1.. Flowing with sweetness or honey.
2.. Smooth and sweet: "polite and cordial,
with a mellifluous, well-educated voice"
JAR is an acoustic rock duo, performing covers and originals. Jean Cardeno and Rochelle Smith play guitars, violin, and hand drum, performing songs with much harmony.
BOISE STATE UNIVERSITY CULTURAL CENTER SAYS:
"We have had the pleasure of hiring several local very talented artists and we recommend: Rochelle Smith- catch her at local venues for a treat! Her blend of vocals and guitar are a beautiful mixture..."
(From the webpage of Library Coffee House manager Scott Rittenhouse)
"Rochelle Smith performed at the coffeehouse tonight to an appreciative audience made up mostly of college kids sprinkled with representatives from every strata of life. What made this show so appealing was the combination of excellent musicianship, precise angelic vocals mixed with a pervasive and relaxing aura. With well thought out arrangements, and ethereal chording, the songs were thoroughly laced with harmonies and beautiful texturing. You really have to check her out the next time she is in town, the music she plays is excellent hang-out music, as well as music that is aesthetically pleasing."
(BSU ARBITER)
Rochelle Smith played a quality set on her acoustic guitar. Smith loves performing for students on the BSU campus, as evidenced by her repeated visits. Ever-friendly, Smith entertained the onlookers with her combination of original tunes and covers, including a top-notch reproduction of Fleetwood Mac's "Landslide."
"Finally got to listen to the EP .
The EP has 4 original songs, each a little more ambitious and ominous than its predecessor. These are lovely, simple tunes with sparse arrangements. The voices are clear and present and deliver their message with conviction. The harmonies are precise. I especially enjoyed the echoing voices. The violin work has a biting, swooping sensuality. Kudos to Cunningham Audio for presenting these two artists with such power and clarity.
I much prefer the original work to the covers. Let's hope there's more to come. "
Daniel from THE HEARD
