Jeanne MacDonald is a celebrated performer who has earned broad recognition and numerous awards for her work in New York City. A recipient of the 2004 New York Nightlife Award and the 2004 MAC Award for Female Vocalist (Manhattan Assoc. of Cabarets & Clubs) MacDonald has also been presented with a BACK STAGE Bistro Award, the prestigious MAC Hanson Award and the Julie Wilson Award for her sincere interpretations of the American popular songbook. In his March 2004 review, Stephen Holden of the NY Times wrote: âWatching a singer like Jeanne MacDonald, who brings an emotional balance; a subtle, good-humored sexiness; and an originality to everything she sings, makes you realize the crucial role good instincts play...â
A regular performer in NYC, MacDonald has appeared in such venues as the renowned Oak Room at the Algonquin Hotel, the FireBird Cafe and the Mabel Mercer Foundationâs Annual Cabaret Convention at The Town Hall and at Jazz at Lincoln Center. She has been a featured performer at the Manhattan Plaza Aids Project Benefit with Audra McDonald and Robert Cuccioli and has appeared several times in âThe Amazing Singing Voice: A Celebration in Song,â to benefit the Schein Voice & Laryngeal Center /Long Island Jewish Medical Center.
Originally from Freeport (Long Island) NY, Jeanne is a graduate of the Crane School of Music in Potsdam, NY, and her musical education and performance experience includes a wide variety of musical styles, from classical to jazz to musical theater. It was at the Bradstan Country Hotel in White Lake, NY, that she first began performing the intimate, lyrically driven style referred to as âcabaret.â
As a recording artist, Jeanne's debut CD, Company, was nominated for Recording of the Year by MAC, and was produced and arranged by Rick Jensen. MacDonald's much anticipated second CD, Live At The Bradstan, was released in late 2004

CABARET REVIEW | JEANNE MACDONALD
A Teacher's Warm Lesson in Possessing a Classic Song
By STEPHEN HOLDEN
"Watching a singer like Jeanne MacDonald, who brings an emotional balance; a subtle, good-humored sexiness; and an originality to everything she sings, makes you realize the crucial role good instincts play in the self-consciously confessional world of cabaret.
Ms. MacDonald, who comes from Freeport, on Long Island, and teaches music in grade school, has built a loyal following over the past decade by making every song her own with an ease that seems to spring directly from who she is, not some idea of who she should be.
Ms. MacDonald, accompanied on piano by Rick Jensen, is the first singer I've heard to make total narrative sense of "Mountain Greenery," the Rodgers and Hart standard that most singers treat as a jazz vocal showpiece, not as the zany story that she finds it to be. She tones down the desperate exhilaration of the Burt Bacharach-Hal David girl-on-the-go song "I Say a Little Prayer" to make it a warmer, more thoughtful expression of friendship. It may be odd to say about a nightclub singer, but you are likely to leave Ms. MacDonald's show trusting her."
