At the age of 20, singer/songwriter Jared Michael Yates is well on his way to stardom, especially after beating out over 200,000 hopefuls and becoming a top 24 contestant on FOXâs American Idol, under the name Jared Yates, during season 4 of the world's most popular televised talent competition.

"I auditioned for American Idol as a spur of the moment thing, after learning that auditions were being held in St. Louis," recalled the Danville, IL native, who soon found himself performing live in front of more than 30 million television viewers and being interviewed and featured in media outlets nationwide from MTV News to Access Hollywood. In 2005, Statistics showed, from the Google.com site regarding American Idol, that Jared Yates was among Carrie Underwood (Grammy-winning country Artist) and Mario Vasquez (Newly signed Arista Recording-Artist) to be most searched about on the net.

"I believe it's my hard work and determination that's allowed me to pursue my dreams of becoming a recording artist," he added. "American Idol served as a great launching pad for my career. It's offered me the opportunity to work with well-known industry professionals whom I wouldn't have otherwise had access to. I've also recently had the opportunity to build my fan base by performing in front of thousands of people throughout the Midwest, at all kinds of shows, fairs, festivals and concerts." The talented young performer, with his teen heart-throb looks, continues to perform The National Anthem at numerous professional sporting events.

Since appearing on American Idol, Jared Michael Yates has begun recording some of his own, original music and is currently being shopped to major record labels as a Pop/Rock/R&B singer. Jared describes his music as "pop with an Rock and Hip Hop influence." He's currently working with Grammy-nominated producer Jeff Anderson and Sound Logic Studios in Lafayette, Indiana, to record his original music.

Jared began writing songs as a way to broaden his talent and express himself musically. "The original music I've been writing and recording is a direct reflection of my personal life, relationships and experiences. Some of the songs are about my experience with the industry and my realization of what Lifeâs journey is about and where itâs leading me. A lot of people, especially teenagers, will be able to relate to these songs since I am in their age range. I think a lot of teens these days donât have many outlets to focus their expressions. Hopefully my songs will help a lot of people and show them that they are not alone.â

Some of my music is a bit edgy, like the song âBoomâ, which is about being in a hot and heavy relationship. It's really up-tempo and will encourage people to dance at the clubs. I've also written music that's more radio friendly," he explained.

Jared also recently recorded a full length album which includes the song âLike u Want me 2 Beâ, which he explains is a song he wrote concerning the people who have tried to be âcareer-ruiningâ and âsoul-breakingâ.
âWe all have to deal with unnecessary obstacles in our lives and I believe all of my music will easily appeal to a broad demographic, made up of teens and adultsâ.

The beautiful and tear-jerking Ballad âPlease Understandâ, Jared explains, was written inspired by a movie that involved a young man trying to reach his goal of becoming a famous movie star despite the hard-knocks of the industry.

"One thing people should know about me is that I am willing to take chances with my music," he concluded. While Jared continues to be a regular guest on radio stations throughout the Midwest and performs live at various venues, he is now working toward widening his fan base by setting out and traveling farther than the Midwest to share his music. Jared has also been working on a full-length album, which is set to be released in December of 2006.
