Julio Cesar is the 3rd of six children born to parents Julio Casillas Sr. and Ana Camacho. As a young boy growing up in the city of Humacao, in the Island of Puerto Rico, Julio was always fascinated with his Grandpaâs guitar that rested on the wall. He could never quite resist the urge to play the instrument, a temptation that almost always resulted in severe punishment for him, but even punishment could not quench his desire to play the instrument.
Strategizing his plan into the world of music, Julio spent the next few years exploring all of his options in the Churchâs music ministry. Obtaining a beginnerâs book he taught himself the guitar. He soon gravitated to the bass, piano, percussion and any other instrument he could put his hands on.
Throwing caution to the wind, Julio, next added singing to his repertoire. This bold move however, was not a welcome one, as the aspiring young singer soon found out. Everyone in the music ministry was appalled by his singing. Secretly, they referred to him as Alfalfa. The pastor finally had to draw the line where Julioâs singing was concerned saying, âNo! No! Just the bass!â and implored him to forget about the singing and return to playing the instrument.

Deeply discouraged, Julio went to the altar in tears saying to the Lord Jesus, âYou donât love me, why donât they let me sing? â It was then by some divine intervention that Julioâs voice was transformed from that of Alfalfa, to the beautiful voice he has today. Julio himself says, âMy voice was anything but great. There was a definite miracle. The voice you hear today is attributed solely to the Divine intervention of God.â

Julio has good reason to feel good these days. His music is soaring to new heights but, he is taking it all in strides.
