World premier recording of the complete works of Turlough O'Carolan (1670-1738)
214 MP3 Songs
WORLD: Celtic, CLASSICAL: Traditional
Details:
This is the WORLD PREMIER RECORDING of the COMPLETE works of Ireland's National Composer, Turlough O'Carolan (1670-1738).
This is a historic issue. This is the first time the complete works of O'Carolan have been available in recorded form. Previously no more than 20 percent of his works had been recorded. This has been a labor of love for Mr.Sheridan, having arranged and completing recording in one year. All have been arranged for concert piano.
The list of titles follows the outline in Donal O'Sullivans masterly biography of O'Carolan.
The tunes are divided as follows:
TUNES 1-170 - Tunes for Patrons
TUNES 171-180 - Tunes without Titles
TUNES 181-205 - Miscellaneous Tunes
TUNES 206-213 - Laments
TUNE 214 - A recent discovery "Captain O'Neill"
The works have been digitally recorded and mastered. The complete set of 8 CD-R's has been housed in a tight plastic case with full titles and programme notes.
