"I am obsessed with writing. In one way or another I manage to incorporate writing into every part of my life. Writing prayers, songs, notes, letters, journals (top secret and for the public eye), random thoughts - I write them all down. Writing helps me to organize my thoughts and figure things out. I was doing a lot of "figuring out" when I wrote the songs on this record. Each song is a story, a continuing transcript of the life of Katie Workman. âKatie had a special interactionâ¦itâs very uniqueâ¦very unusual...a real connection with the young people and that was very obvious. Everyone who heard her, everyone who observed her singing were just very much amazed and actually one evening she drew quite a group of young people because it spread throughout the community that she would be singing at a particular church.
For someone to take the time at her age to consider others while sheâs finding her own placeâ¦this is really truly unselfish giving and rare to find. Itâs very rare.â
