Six years ago, KC Flynn and his then-girlfriend packed all of their worldly belongings in 6x12 U-Haul trailer in Portland, Oregon and hit the road, destination: Nashville. After almost a decade of playing gigs up and down the west coast, he was ready to chase the dream. And chase he did. He wowed audiences all over town at open mics, landed a weekly seat in a champion songwriters round at the world famous Broken Spoke, even bumped into an A&R guy from a major label (no names to protect the innocent) at a bar and handed over his demo cd. The reviews were in: this guy was goodâthe right look, good original songs, and an amazing voice. âStick around for another 5-10 years, and youâre bound to catch that lucky break,â said Mr. A & R. But, you know what they say, you can take the boy out of Oregon, butâ¦
After moving back, KC Flynn has been happily living in Bend, Oregon with his now-wife (same girl) and two young boys. But he hasnât stopped chasing that dream. In fact, he is more involved with music now than he ever has been. He is still writing, and entertaining an ever-growing fan base. Playing over 100 gigs a year, itâs no surprise that he was voted Central Oregonâs Best Local Musician in 2005. KC even received a standing ovation from thousands of fans when he opened for Randy Travis.
Being a successful musician to me is about bringing good music to good people. Itâs a great feeling to whip a packed house into a frenzyâeven if the maximum capacity is only 49.â
Some say that itâs the tremolo in his rich voice, some say itâs his charisma, while others insist itâs the wink of one of his big blue eyes that keep you coming back for more. But whatever it is, itâs working. KC Flynn is the real deal.
