The Only Love (Country/Pop) Dec. 2006 Release
"The Only Love" reflects some of the many faces of love, from that first "in love" feeling, through loves trials, tribulations and disappointments. And finally, if love has gone wrong, the desire to once again feel the comfort of love.
With over 20 years of entertainment experience Kathy Kee is no novice behind the microphone. She admits to favoring "a little bit of country" to "rock and roll" but Kathy can belt out the pop, jazz and rock with gusto and flair.
Kathy Kee is a native North Carolinian, who, at the age of seven, began driving her sister crazy with her endless humming and singing. On her fourteenth Christmas her father bought her an acoustic guitar and instruction booklet. She taught herself well enough to play some of her favorite songs.
This musical affinity gave her ambition and a dream. She wanted to someday sing on stage at the Grand Ole Opry. She hasn't graced that stage, yet. But, at fifteen she joined her friend's family group. They played and sang at fiddler's conventions and such.
They had fun and brought home a few ribbons for the trophy case to boot!
At seventeen she married, packed her new life in a suitcase and took it to Florida. By age eighteen she was âMommyâ to a beautiful baby girl.
Kathy kept being âMommyâ, playing her guitar and singing her songs. Then, in her mid-twenties she met other musicians. They combined their talents and called themselves âRandomâ. Random played a familiar music circuit. They were booked at the Moose Lodges, Elks Clubs, and VFW. They played the Lounges at The Holiday Inn and Ramada Inn, along with some other not so famous hotels.
In her late twenties Kathy formed her own groupâKathy and Winchesterâ. They played the same circuit, plus private parties, charity fund raisers, and children's hospitals. Kathy's second child, a boy, was born when she was thirty. She continued with music, and writing her own songs. One song won her Second Place in a radio contest. She later gave up the band.
Then came Karaoke . Four years later her marriage ended in divorce. Kathy and her friends started hanging out in the clubs singing to the Karaoke tunes. Kathy became a favorite among the club patrons. She won local contents and loved singing in public. Not exactly the Grand Ole Opry but it is something.
In 2002 she returned to North Carolina. She became a Karaoke Hostess. âKathy's Karaokeâ gained in local popularity. You may see her in the Charlotte/Concord area of North Carolina, hostessing parties, weddings and local lounges.
She still holds tight to the Grands Ole Opry dream. Now, with the help of her new found musical home "Diamond Flower Studios", she feels she has a better than ever chance to have her dream come true.
