Lanny Hattbaugh: Singer-Songwriter - Lannyâs love for country music began at a very young age. Born the sixth of seven children, he was raised by his mother with little or no help. Lanny said, âWe were poor, but basically happy, and talk about unconditional love, we sure had it! I think all of us kidâs appreciate things that we have today just a little more than we would if we had been more fortunateâ. Lannyâs song âLucky Sevenâ tells a story of his early childhood and his relationship with his family today. His song âAngelâs Name is Momâ (2006 âTwo Thumbs Upâ CD) tells of a motherâs love and kindness. At the age of 11, brothers Steve and Barry saved up twenty-five dollars from âcatchâin chickensâ and bought a brand-new Harmony arch-top guitar. It fast became a prized possession. Along with his brothers, Lanny learned to play that guitar. Music has been a part of his life ever since. Today, Lanny writes âfrom the heartâ country songs with his traditional country roots and contemporary blues and rock influences. Lannyâs edgy lyrics come from a lifetime of loves, heartaches and stories from the road. Lanny says, âCountry has always been number one for me, but I really love the blues. Lannyâs songs range from gripping ballads to sassy satire. Lanny plays with a regionally popular five-piece country band where Lanny frequently fields requests for his originals. Sometimes he is asked âwhose song is that, Iâve heard it on the country radio before.â Lanny said: âI love to perform for the crowd, but the most gratifying thing is to touch peopleâs emotions with my songs.â Lanny just released his much anticipated, freshman CD âTwo Thumbs Upâ on the CTR Music label in December of 2006 to rave reviews and brisk sales.
