LIL J - DA MEX CONNECT
After forming Done Deal Records in October of 2001, Lil J - Da Mex Connect served as the executive producer for two of Done Dealâs previous releases, Candymanâs Makin Deals of A Lifetime and I-10 Konnectionâs Introducing Sosa. Many local and national Hip-Hop artists participated in these projects, including Happy Perez, LiI Keke, Slim Thug, ESG and Big Hawk. Helping make music - from behind the scenes so to speak -- whetted Lil Jâs appetite and soon he decided to try his own hand and record his own album.
For his first solo album, Time 4 Change, Lil J decided
that he wanted to do something that had never been .1-done before -- mix Hip-Hop and Norteño/Tejano music. He wanted to add the flavor of the accordion to combine the sounds of Hip-Hop and Norteño/Tejano. To do so, LiD decided to approach the best, done before â mix Hip-Hop and Norteno/Tejano music. He wanted to add the flavor fo the accordion to combine the sounds of Hip-Hop and Norteno/Tejano. To do so, Lil J - Da Mex Connect decided to approach the best, El Rey Del Accordion, Ramon Ayala. Lil Jâs first single is a remake of Mr. Ayalaâs classic hit âUn Puño de Tierraâ -- Hip-Hop style. The single is a unique fusion of Hip-Hop and Norteño/Tejano music along with the collaboration of, Grammy award winning artist, Ramon Ayala and producer Russell Lee, most known for his work with current R & B sensations Natalie, Frankie J and recent Top Ten Billboard artist Baby Bash. This new fusion of sound has become one of the most sought after sounds by todays Latin youth. The single titled, âUn Puno de Tierra 04â has been regarded as a history making single and Latin Hip-Hop at its next level. Lil Jâs second single, âSexy Ladiesâ has virtually become the hottest club song in the Texas club scene. Once again Lil J accomplished another unique sound for âSexy Ladlesâ with his Regaetone and Southern Crunk fusion. Not only has âSexy Ladiesâ achieved club approval, it has also been added to several radio mix shows (see BDS). To top it off, Lil J - Da Mex Connect along with Killa Kyleon of the Boss Hogg Outlawz unleashed the street single âRight Hereâ. Lil J uses his unique blend of latin, street, and gruff vocals, combined with Killaâs insane flow & classic Boss Hogg delivery together on one track to further define Houstonâs unique sound that has recently captivated audiences throughout the Hip-Hop world. This recent fusion of sound has become a huge success in a short time, getting spins and requests at radio stations from the West Coast, across Texas, and down to Southern Florida (see BDS).
Ever since the album has been released, the first three singles have gotten airplay in two genres, Urban radio and Mexican Regional, in the Southern States, and nationwide via Pocos Pero Locos, Street Fuego and Choppaholix, nationally syndicated radio programs (see BDS) as well as video play for âUn Puno De Tierra 04â and âSexy Ladiesâ on Mun2. As evidenced by his pioneering collaboration with Mr. Ayala, and consistent with his philosophy of making original and exciting music, LII Jâs fans can expect the rest of the album to include classics for the streets to enjoy.
