LongAxe is a member of Black Lotus, a product of Tha Beggas who were featured on the 1997 WU Tang Killer Bees Compilation "The Swarm", is now releasing his first solo CD. LongAxe is known for his introspective and eclectic style of rhyme. With a mellow undertone, his words pierce the soul of the listener. He is 15 years strong in the game and brings to the table a brand of Hip-Hop that pays homage to the old and new innovative styles of music. LongAxe has also ventured into the production arena which is featured on his new CD "Lost In Translation". With a history as deep as his, the elements presented on this CD are bound to take the imagination to new heights. Often times viewed as a perfectionist, it's hard to find fault with a project that reveals the beauty of Hip-Hop music as well as it's imperfections. From what I've been hearing alot has been going on behind the scenes lately with LongAxe. The finishing touches are being added to his NEW CD entitled 'Lost In Translation'. LongAxe says he chose the title Lost In Translation based on the fact that listeners are bombarded with "filters" these days such as radio and tv that dictate what's HOT and what's NOT often leaving the outspoken underground artist without support or exposure. The translation from grassroots to mainstream dilutes the music and the message thus leaving the body of music lifeless as a whole. L.I.T. is basically a mellowed out and sometimes moody mixture of songs focusing on society, life, the landscape of music today and even tackles the tough topic of child molestation and drug abuse. Now don't get me wrong this album has a variety of moving topics but still has bite to it. L.I.T. marinates soul with layered sounds making it perfect for bopping your heads "ipod style" on the bus or train. If you are into unique production and lyricism then 'Lost In Translation' is just right for you. The 19 track CD boast production from producers such as King Cee from BolosKitchen, Family Jewels Production and Industry Beatz. The remaining production is left up to LongAxe himself and he does a great job with providing the landscape to accompany the rhymes and stories on the CD. There are also some compelling skits on the this CD that will leave cracking up or in deep thought. This is a well thought out body of work that definitely challenges the boundaries of music with a refreshing sense of style awareness and loyalty to the HipHop Legacy.
