Malaki aka Black Beast was born from the streets of Nashville, TN. Childhood taunts of Black Jesus and Black Moses stalked him until he began to display his lyrical talent. This gained him respect and admiration from his peers and local hustlers. He began to socialize with the hoodlums and big money makers but was always known for his music. âBlackâ expressed his fast lifestyle with a partner to create one of the first independent movements out of Cashville., âBlack and Jayâ. They traveled the country working with C-Lo from Concentration Camp, Livin Legend, Young Bleed, Rollow B, Juvenile, Yung Buck, Pimpin Ken, and many others. That was all brought to a halt when Jay was incarcerated. Black once again was a solo act and trying to figure out how to finance the operation. Strong-arming earned the needed revenue as well as the moniker âBeastâ. This was a period of darkness in his life when no light shone upon him. Like a phoenix from the ashes he was reborn through the union with a higher power as Malaki. The traditional meaning of the name (The Messenger) holds true here. Malaki illustrates some of the darker sides of the street life all while giving hope and affirmation that there are better lives for all that follow the proper path.
