As written by Mark Shields:

Somewhere along the I-5 corridor is a little town called Eugene, Oregon and that is where this band calls home. The album that youâre checking out is our debut release on Uno Masâ Records and was recorded at Lonely Room Studio and Sprout City Studios in late November/early December of 2006. It features Theo Halpert on drums, Corey Culberhouse on bass, and myself on guitar and vocals. Other locals involved where Dan Reyhle as recording engineer, Thaddeus Moore as mixing engineer, and Jim Rusby as mastering technician.

As far as albums go, this one isnât going to make us famous or change the world, but itâs a solid ride from start to finish. This is an introduction to who we are as individuals and to who we are as a band. In essence, this album is a snapshot of us at the moment of launch and each of us are excited to see where weâll flow to as the journey continues. Hope you come along for the ride!

When I was finalizing this album, I came upon a crossroads. Commercially speaking, I wouldnât say making any album, let alone your debut album, longer than about forty-five minutes is a good idea. There seems to be a consensus that people just canât listen for that long. However, in my mind, I couldnât see leaving any of the songs out and I was also romanticizing a time when people would buy an album and listen to the whole thing while hanging with their friends. In that, this album might be a step backward, but hopefully itâs also a movement forward.

Each of the tracks on âthe LONELY ROOM tapesâ stands on their own and the album is a complete ride from start to finish. So, with the advent of modern technology, you can either choose to just play the songs that fit your mood, or you can sit back and take the long view. Either way, itâs your ride and weâre glad youâre here.

Iâm not sure if in the end this album is a seed or the red pill, but I do hope you enjoy it and it becomes a part of you. And, as always, we hope to see you live.

Best of luck and thank you from Mark Shields and the Rock Apes.

More to come...
