We play a sort of rock/folk that some might call "Americana". We've got guitar, banjo, viola, piano, bass, drums and singing.
9 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Folk Rock, ROCK: Americana
Details:
The Deer are an ever-growing cast of friends who drop in to play songs. They make a sort of Rock-Folk that some call Americana. The goal is for every performance to be a spontaneous and unique experience. "Inventory" was recorded by Jim Reynolds in a basement studio on the grounds of a wonderful historic estate in Leominster, MA. Work began in June of 2004 with the idea of making a loose and relaxed honest record.
It touches on themes such as:
* Daily struggles
* Small victories
* The promises we make to ourselves
* Hope and resolution
The core of the Deer is currently:
Jim Reynolds | Guitar, Banjo, Bass, Recording
Gregg Porter (of Hotel Alexis, Tiger Saw, Unbunny) | Drums
David Michael Curry (of Thalia Zedek, Empty House Co-operative, Willard Grant Conspiracy) | Viola, Singing Saw, Trumpet
And they've had help (live and/or on record, most recent first) from:
Casey Dienel | Piano
Nathan Groth (of Hotel Alexis) | Vibes
TW Walsh (of Pedro the Lion, Headphones) | Piano, Bass
The first edition of 1,000 copies of "Inventory" will come housed in a letterpress packaging which will be hand-numbered and include a mini-Inventory tag that'll be signed by Brian Michael Roff.
