35 Buddhas led by Venerable. Lozang Tsewang and Vajrasattva Practice led by Venerable. Tenzin Tsepal
âThere are four remedy powers. The one that reduces and purifies negative karma is regret. The stronger the regret, the more the negative karma is purified. All phenomena affect each other; that is what dependent arising meansâfire can burn, water can make things wet. It works similarly in our mind: our positive thoughts have one effect; negative thoughts have a different effect. So, there is happiness and there is sufferingâthis is a dependent arising.
Reciting the mantra of Vajrasattva, who attained qualities such as compassion and power in order to benefit sentient beings, purifies negative karma through dependent arising. In the same way, by reciting the names of the 35 Buddhas many times or just once, eons of negative karma is purifiedâ
-Lama Zopa Rinpoche
Chenrezig Institute is a centre for Buddhist study, meditation, retreat, and practice nestled in the foothills of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland in Queensland, Australia. Established in 1974 Chenrezig Institute was one of the first Tibetan Buddhist centre in the Western World and remains one of the largest.
Today, the Institute is home to a Tibetan Lama, a large community of Sangha (monks and nuns), students, residents, volunteers, retreatants, and guests.
Apart from the formal study programmes, Chenrezig Institute is a peaceful, calm and relaxing place to spend a few hours, days or weeks. Stroll along the bush paths, wander in the formal garden, sip espresso in the café,have a vegetarian meal, drop in for a meditation class or teaching, or just sit and listen to life.
Our mission is to transmit the Tibetan Buddhist tradition as the path to ultimate happiness and freedom from suffering. We provide integrated education through which peopleâs minds and hearts can be transformed into their highest potential for the benefit of others, inspired by an attitude of universal responsibility. We are committed to creating harmonious environments and helping all beings develop their full potential of infinite wisdom and compassion.
Teachings at Chenrezig Institute are based on the Buddhist tradition of Lama Tsongkhapa of Tibet as taught to us by our founder Lama Thubten Yeshe and spiritual director Lama Zopa Rinpoche. Lama Tsongkhapa (1357â1419) was the founder of the Gelug school of Tibetan Buddhism. The Dalai Lama is the temporal head of the Gelug school
