Indie rock and roll four-piece The Stand are a uniquely talented band currently making waves in the Manchester music scene, knocking at the door of the big-time and just about ready to smash it down. The Standâs roots are in Buxton, Derbyshire but the cities of Sheffield, Stoke, Manchester and Liverpool have played host to the band, who are loyally and eagerly backed by their bus-loads of supporters wherever they go. Liverpoolâs world-famous Cavern Club has twice this year witnessed the superb vocals and ability of lead singer and rhythm guitarist Ged Potts, backed by three other members who each bring their own skill to create a mix which is truly above and beyond your run-of-the-mill act. Mark Whibberleyâs tireless work in promoting the band carries over into his role as bass guitarist, providing a vital cornerstone to The Stand both musically and fundamentally. Drummer and âbeatmasterâ Jon Stoneâs outstanding performances give an incredible energy to the gigs pushing the band on to an even greater level, creating a fantastic audience experience. The exuberance of youngest and newest member guitarist Charlie Willcox brings a new dimension to The Standâs vibe, as he plays wonderfully in tandem with his bandmates, grabbing his moments to shine when they arise. Manchesterâs renowned music scene has showcased the band in top venues including The Printworks, The Roadhouse and Manchester Academy. It is little surprise that organisers never hesitate to book them again when you see the event these lads create, The Stand have battled hard to this point and the time for their reward is now here.
