Ten Cent Poetry (Chelsea Lynn La Bate) is an award winning songwriter known for her lush, quirky "song stories." A dynamic and radiant performer, she picks out vibrant melodies on both classical and electric guitar and is often accompanied by dramatic cello, viola, stand up bass and percussion arrangements. Her shows often incorporate large scale visual elements - stage installations, Asheville artists projected on video screens, animations, and fashion.

She spent years refining her performing and writing skills on the competitive stages of NYC's Lower east Side and Brooklyn, where she became a main stay performer in the New York anti-folk scene that has produced such talents as Regina Spektor and the Moldy Peaches.

Since leaving the city, Ten Cent Poetry has independently been building a wave of followers through grass roots touring in the South East. She has fallen in love with the slow beauty of cities like Savannah, GA and Charleston, SC, often using them as the subject for her songs and stories. She is currently based in Asheville, NC and happy to be a celebrated piece of it's colorful music scene and conscious community.
