Michael is a multi-award winning acoustic guitar virtuoso who tours internationally presenting an eclectic mix of original instrumentals and distinctive arrangements, many of which have received international TV and radio exposure. His influences are diverse, and his music is enhanced with stories and humour. His repertoire, developed over 30 years, includes Jazz and Blues, Celtic and Australian Folk, Country, Classical and his own distinctive compositions.

The Heart has Reasons was originally released in 1996. It was Michael's 3rd CD release, and featured an emotive, acoustic style which was to become his trademark sound on subsequent releases. In 2004, Michael repackaged and re-released the CD. The album features Sydney string quartets CODA strings, and ELECTRA string quartet, in addition to acoustic bass, percussion, flute and guitar.
