NEW AGE: Healing, WORLD: Asian
Details:
Soft tones from Asia celebrating the slowness of time.
Shunsuke Mizuno has long worked on his own flavour and individual style of Asian music that can be understood throughout the world. Peace and space, time experienced as it is: an endlessly long stream. Being able to enjoy the simple things around you and at the same time remain open to other world cultures. "I believe that we can find our peace and healing of heart in Asian music," Shunsuke Mizuno says, and you can indeed feel it in this music.
Shunsuke Mizuno is co-founder of the Skydog Blues Band. He studied at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, performing with Makoto Ozone, Toshifumi Hinata, Joseph Jarman and Tim Donahue.
Shunsuke himself is a bassist and works in Japan with a group of exceptional musicians, including Miwa Inaba (13-, 17-, 22-string koto) and Aya Motohashi (hitiriki, Japanese oboe), with whom he also performs internationally. He exclusively uses acoustic instruments for his music, such as the tan kin, shou, shakuhachi, santoor, sitar, tabla and western instruments including the harmonica, piano, guitar and a 5-string double bass.
Exotic Japanese sounds mixed in an entirely natural way with western Jazz and Folk music to create a new unity.
Slow Time expresses Mizuno's feelings on the things that represent life. Soft tones from Asia celebrating the slowness of time.
