Bio:
Ever since I can remember, music has has been a big part of my life. You can say that it started back when I was about 3, maybe 4, years old. I would wake up to Luther Vandross, Marvin Gaye, The Temptations, New Edition, and a host of other groups. Until I was like 9 years old, I don't even remember watching television at all. All thier was, was music.
My first experience in the spotlight was in 3rd grade, at Handley Elementary School. I played the cowardly lion in the musical, The Wizard of Oz. From that point on I was hooked. I had to be in the spotlight. I hosted talent shows, joined the Step Team, the Poetry Club, and a slew of other clubs and organizations that put me in a position to where I was comfortable performing in front of others.
I started transitioning from poetry to rap/ hip hop, in highschool. I would say my one liners, before I would mess up, trying to keep up, in the freestyle sessions. I eventually was able to keep up and got better and better with time. The person that helped this transition was an artist by the name of Twista. He is a fast paced rapper from the south side of Chicago. I bought the album Adrenaline Rush. I'll never forget it because the first time I bought the CD, I was helping my grandfather move my aunt to Houston, TX. I had to have bought that CD at least 4 more times before it was all said and done. I just knew that I would be the next Twista.
After graduation, I enlisted in the U.S. Army. In basic training I met this cat by the last name of Jackson. When we would be cleaning our boots or roadmarching, I would provide the beat while him and a couple others would cypher. I went on the Ft. Campbell, KY where I bought my first beat machine. It was called the Roland MC 303 Groovebox. I started making beats and rapping with some of my friends. We called (and still call ourselves) The Smokngunz. I have been doing music with a passion ever since then.
