The Moats are a rock band from the Philadelphia area who started playing music together nearly 16 years ago. Over the years and even through times of separation, they continued to play and write music together whenever they had the chance.

Than Arnold (Keyboards/Vocals)
With an affinity for prog rock and cake, A-town native Than Arnold was mastering music theory during the early days in his mother's womb. His musical influences range from Pink Floyd to Beethoven to Rush. Than was one of the founding members of Method, the first-run version of The Moats. Than is responsible for the reformation of the band after their hiatus.

Matt Herron (Guitar/Vocals)
A corn-fed boy, Matt Herron hails from the streets of Chi-town. He made his way through the early years of his life by pedaling foreign currency to unsuspecting tourists. With his empire in ruins, he moved to suburban Philadelphia to start a new life. His musical talents were discovered by members of Method in their attempts to find a guitarist. The sordid details of his life can only be deciphered through his melodious guitar riffs.

Damon Kardon (Bass)
A figment of the imagination, Damon Kardon is a musical enigma, if you will. Damon was brought up among th Suzuki masters of violin where he endured the fiercest string training that only the likes of Ralph Macchio could endure. His parents brought him up in Ambler, PA, where he was locked in a room with nothing more than the clothes on his back, a bass guitar, and a violin. Although he has little concept of academic music theory, he has become one of the greatest purely ear trained musicians ever known.

Mike Hurst (Drums)
Raised on the hard streets of A-town, Michael Pasquale Hurst is the prodigy lovechild of Bonzo and Keith Moon (Buddy Rich got some of his little buddies in there too). In his youth, he spent his days playing Coleco and street hockey with his homies. Michael cut his teeth on the drums through the years with Yazz, Marching, and Rock Band. Mike's favorite dish is Italian, and he loves all things Tera Patrick. Mike plays a Yamaha Stage Custom set and uses some brand of sticks.

In recent years, The Moats have put forth great initiative and hard work to complement their natural musical talent and remarkable cohesion. It has opened doors to play many popular venues in the Philadelphia area. Most recently, The Moats have dedicated themselves to writing complex and innovative music and produced their debut album, Blazin' the Blazer, in 2006.
