NUBIA
Born March 19, 1987 in Washington, D.C., NUBIA Dickerson is the embodiment of the heritages of her Ethiopian mother and her African American father. This self proclaimed
âOld Soulâ was blessed with an extraordinarily powerful voice and a rare sense of wisdom which was displayed at a very early age.
Though classically trained for six years, her musical range and influences are very diverse. From the classic jazz sounds of Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, and Miles Davis
to the soulful R&B of Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, and the stars of Motown, NUBIA has been touched by them all.
One singer, however, made a very profound impression on NUBIA, as is evident by the following quote: âSomeone I truly look up to is Nancy Wilson because she was the first singer I heard that had a belting voice that I could relate toâ.
Though thankful to her musical mentors for their inspiration, NUBIA set out to perfect
her own musical style. In high school, she played the role of Ruth in âRaisinâ and she
won triumphant acclaim for her starring role as Dorothy in âThe Wizâ.
NUBIA was also a member of her high school chorus and was the lead vocalist in the Blues Alley Youth Orchestra which, ultimately, led to performances at the renowned Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., The Smithsonian Museum Of American History, The Carter Baron Amphitheater, and the legendary Blues Alley Night Club.
Her debut single, âI Feel The Beatâ features African Hip Hop sensation, JERO, from
Nairobi, Kenya. This Go Go flavored dance track is the perfect vehicle to showcase
her powerful vocals and soulful delivery.
The June 2007 release of NUBIAâS the debut album, âLet Me Introduce Myselfâ, is a collection of songs that shows the versatility and range of this extraordinary vocalist. Throughout this soon to be classic recording, she effortlessly makes the transition from smoking hot dance tracks to soulful slow jams and powerful pop ballads.
Geez Dreemz Entertainment is proud to present the worldâs next superstar diva, NUBIA.
