...the music, and how it came it came to be!

I have been creating and making music now for many, many years. In fact, I got my first recording deal at 16 yrs old. I was raised in a family that loved musicâ¦real music! I grew up listening to classics by Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Johnny Mathis, Mahalia Jackson, The Beatles, Anne Murray, âPeter, Paul, and Maryâ, Sarah Vaughn, Mel Tormé, Nancy Wilson, the great âDoo Wop â groups, Charlie Pride, Joan Baez, José Feliciano, and of course⦠Motown !

As you can see my love of music and itâs variations are broad and wide! âJust Norwood,â actually began itâs conception 5 years ago. Believe me, I love the sound of todayâs music, but there is nothing like the real thing!â â



Realâ musicians, with realâ untampered vocals by using the help of todayâs power of technology! Although some of the songs on this cd, were recorded 5years ago, they will always stand the test of time, because they are real music, with real singing, and real stories, and this will never go out of style! They are classic! Songs like, âJesus is Love.â

The great Lionel Richie wrote and recorded that song over 20 years ago, and when you listen to my version, (and I hope you love it!) it will still move you the same way ! âEasier said than done,â the song I recorded with the original, âAND I AM TELLING YOU,â Dreamgirls, Effie, my friend, Jennifer Holliday. We recorded that song four years ago. However, the story, and the music are timeless.

Songs like, âTake me home,â and the country/pop tune,
" I canât fool anyone,â and âEverytime you go away,âand even the wedding song my buddy Scott Cannady and I wrote, âWould you be mine,â will never die! (By the way, for all you music buffs, Scott Cannady was the bass player for the legendary jazz group, Pieces of a Dream in which I was the lead singer). The new music that I recorded, I did all within the last year. Songs like, Eighth Wonder,âand âBreaking Up is Hard To Do,â âNo Way, No How,â and âQueen of My Life,â are my newer songs and my new classics!â Even the club/dance song on this cd, is a âthrowback.â The James âD-Trainâ hit, âYouâre the one for Me,â is hot! There is even a song, âSexual Amnesia,â a good ole âSteppinâ record, will make you feel good and keep you dancing for years to come!


Lastly, there is the song I wrote targeting the tragic problem in our country, the problem of hunger. the foundation in which I am the founder, is called, âFeed His People,â(www.wefeedhispeople.org) the song bears the same name and it also features my dear friend and American Idol runner up, Trynce.

In, summation, this cd is gospel, dance, country, r & b , nouveux soul, classic soul and even elements of jazz . It canât be put in any category or music genre.
