Outgunned formed back in 1997 by Bobby Johnson, Jon Kennedy, Greg Nance, and Andrew Saunders, all relatively inexperienced musicians that shared a common goal: to make music that they liked to hear. Period. Fame and popularity were not the measure of success, so every practice in the garage that yielded something musically interesting was a victory. The band gigged around the Dallas/Fort Worth area until 2000, and recorded their first album âFace Behind the Faceâ right before Nance and Kennedy left the Dallas area to go to college. Johnson and Saunders kept the band going for the next several years with a number of different lineups, with some being more successful than others, but ultimately these recreations did not compare to the original lineup. Johnson departed from the band in 2002 to devote time to his family, leaving Saunders as the only remaining founding member, who disbanded the group in mid 2004.

During the years plagued by lineup changes and false starts, Saunders amassed a collection of songs that would become bandâs new beginning. The recording process began in June 2004, and by the time the recording was finished in March 2006, the album had become a double-disc with 21 songs. The double-disc was split in two volumes, and the first, titled âVol. I: Answering the Ceaseless Need,â was released on March 2, 2007.

The forthcoming and yet-to-be-titled Vol. II is in the mixing stage and will likely be released in the not-too-distant future.
