Details:
Alpine Butterfly are a four-piece band dedicated to writing progressive/alternative music that can't easily be catagorised. Determined not to fit into any genre they are constantly writing and thinking of ways to seperate themselves from anything existing in todays music scene. In doing so, Alpine Butterfly have written a number of songs that vary in style but maintain a unique sound that can only be described as their own!

Their songs so far have ranged from, feel good, possibly californian style, acoustic rock with a blend of subtle dreamy harmonies and backing vocals that provide that feel good, warm textured sound that audiences cant help but sing along to even at first listen. From jazz to blues, classic rock to ballads and some experimental, progressive rock music that provides some serious guitar riffage that gets every head in a room turning and nodding to the cool, catchy rock grooves.

Another characteristic of Alpine Butterfly's sound comes from their love of incorporating the much forgotten âGuitar Soloâ into a lot of their songs, something that seems against the grain in some of todays mainstream music (unfortunately so). At the same time they aren't afraid of writing a classic pop/rock song to please all manner of music listeners and critics.

The band recorded their first four tracks at âMighty Atom Studiosâ, a well known recording studio based in Swansea, that has recorded such bands as Catatonia and Funeral for a Friend. Their aim with these recording sessions was to maintain their different style philosophy, trying to keep each song sounding different to the other but most impotantly obtaining a raw sound that wasn't over produced and that captured that live feel, they believe is all important. They have since recorded another 3 tracks.

Alpine Butterfly was formed by Singer/Song Writer David Dale, and Guitarist/Singer Chris Wright. After a year or so of writing their own material acoustically, and briefly recording some acoustic demos, they decided to form a band. Simply because of the fact that the songs had a classic rock edge to them and needed to progress into a live band situation. They auditioned various Bass players and Drummers. But, It wasnât until David âDutchyâ Holland, and Luke âSkywalkerâ Hammond came along that they felt a certain chemistry between them. With Dutchyâs pounding, and melodically meandering Bass lines, and Skywalkersâ jazz/rock influenced, creatively composed, textured drum parts it became a solid ground for Alpine Butterfly to develope into what it is today.

Alpine Butterfly are on a mission to expose their music to the masses, and firmly place their stamp on todays music scene. They are all about writing songs that relate to everyday people and create a reality within their lyrics, taking musical influences from as far back as the 60âs all the way up to the present day. Always seeking to take a musical idea and make it their own, in an original and inspiring way. Once the people hear Alpine Butterfly thereâll be no turning back, and they aim to spread their wings and stay within the music industry for decades to come.

This South Wales based four-piece are a hard working group who have only been together for a year but in that time have gigged all over Wales and beyond and have recieved great response from every music venue and music lover they have encountered. Often described as fresh, quirky, original sounding, it seems their live performance's show a great love of music, and playing infront of people is what makes them a band that should not be missed live.
