Details:
It's not often in today's mundane music scene that a band with such passion and meaning comes along. The Portland, Maine rock band, A New Vision, is breaking the rules. There's no lack of creativity on the band's debut full-length, Immortality. A concept piece with a solid narrative, the album puts a wide array of musical approaches on display, touching upon rock, industrial, pop, acoustic, and jazz. Arranged into three chapters, Immortality is a story of a soul given a second chance at life, a love found and lost, and a reflection on the meaning of life, whereby the soul discovers "you need to understand your life to appreciate your death." Recorded on a digital 16-track from the bands home, the album was produced, recorded, and mixed by the band.
A New Vision's Aaron Bagley and Travis Szendrei have been writing music together since they were 14 years old, forming the rock band Ransom in high school. Ransom went on to sell over three thousand CDs, become the first band from Portland to release a DVD, and share stages with some of the biggest names in rock including Disturbed, Mudvayne, Trapt, Kill Hannah, Nonpoint, Ra and many others. After 8 years of Ransom, Aaron and Travis along with longtime friend and drummer, Dan Kramer, went on to form A New Vision, recruiting younger brothers Jody Bagley and Alex Szendrei on piano/synth and guitar, and the enigmatically named Dark White as a third guitar player.
The live sound of A New Vision is what is really creating a buzz throughout New England right now. Utilizing all forms of multi-media well to quickly grow their fan base. Having been described as Nine Inch Nails meets Pink Floyd, the intense live show brings a wall of sound featuring three diverse guitarists, a tight rhythm section, and a classically trained pianist. Since the albums release, A New Vision has repeatedly been in the top 10 best selling CD charts in Maine stores. The band also celebrated their CD release with a sold out show at Portland's premier venue The Big Easy.
A New Vision shows no indication of slowing down. The band is currently playing shows in support of Immortality, writing songs for the album's follow up, and self-producing their first DVD.
